What is IDD Therapy?

IDD therapy stands for Intervertebral Disc Decompression. It was developed in the USA and is now available throughout the world. We are one of a handful of clinics in the UK offering this groundbreaking treatment.

IDD Therapy is a very accurate targeted treatment which relieves pressure on specific spinal discs and restores mobility.

In our specially developed treatment room patients lie on the IDD Therapy machine (Accu SPINA).  It is computer controlled and perfectly comfortable. The machine works by taking pressure off an injured or bulging/herniated disc and stretching the soft tissues. This may help improve mobility in the spine and allow the body’s natural healing mechanisms to operate more efficiently.

IDD Therapy is safe, gentle and non-invasive.

How can IDD Therapy help me?

If you have back or neck pain and traditional therapies have not worked. IDD Therapy could be the perfect treatment for you. The machine targets certain spinal segments and uses carefully controlled pulling forces called distraction forces. These movements help improve mobility in the painful area and this helps healing. Idd therapy also helps relieve pressure on structures, such as intervertebral discs, spinal nerves and the joints of the vertebrae themselves which can be causing pain.

 About Your Treatment

The IDD Therapy (Accu Spina) video will help explain the treatment fully. If you have any questions we will be happy to answer them, call us or use our contact form.

In order to prepare for your appoint please;

Bring a list of your medicines

If you are currently taking any medication it will help us to know what this is as this will help us provide the best treatment plan for you.

Dress appropriately

The machine uses gentle pulling forces to help improve your joint mobility. So wearing loose, comfortable clothing, preferrably trousers will help you feel more comfortable whilst you receive the treatment.

Why IDD Therapy?

“I have been treating back pain for over 25 years.  When my own back developed a problem which hands-on-treatment failed to address, a colleague recommended I have a course of IDD Therapy.

This gentle treatment changed my life.  I could immediately feel the difference and how IDD Therapy works alongside manual therapy.  IDD Therapy has enabled me to carrying on working and it has also helped one of my reception team.

Unless there is an urgent need for surgery, IDD therapy can help people with conditions we previously wouldn’t have been able to do much for”.

What Does IDD Therapy Treatment Involve?

IDD Therapy helps treat unresolved back pain, neck pain and sciatica amongst other conditions. IDD Therapy involves applying carefully controlled pulling forces. These forces are calculated by a sophisticated computer program that takes into account your height and weight. You will be harnessed to an Accu Spina machine. The machine gently moves your body in order to draw apart spinal segments. This pulling apart relieves pressure on the discs and any pinched nerves like in the picture below.

How many IDD Therapy sessions will I need?

All patients are different and a plan treatment plan will be tailored to your individual needs. Some patients feel the therapeutic benefits of IDD therapy after a few sessions, however with most patients suffering for years with conditions, improvement can take some time. Typically people have several treatments spread over 4 to 6 weeks. This allows the body to adapt to treatment whilst improvements in spine function are achieved.

Will IDD Therapy work for me?

IDD Therapy can help people who have back or neck pain. Many of our customers have tried various other treatments without success. Often our customers consider the therapy as they want to try to come off existing pain medication

They may be taking pain medication and maybe considering invasive treatments such as injections or in extreme cases, surgery.

If you are suffering from back pain or neck pain, symptoms in the legs or arms, then come and see us for an honest and expert opinion and to see which treatment you are most suitable for.

Can I have IDD Therapy after an operation?

Yes you can have IDD Therapy provided that the procedure was not within the previous six months (to allow complete healing) and there are no surgical implants.

Is IDD Therapy like Traction Therapy?

IDD therapy is unique in that it targets very specific spinal segments in a carefully controlled and gentle and comfortable way. IDD Therapy allows for targeted distraction forces which are calculated on an individual basis. Traditional traction often means generic forces that treats the whole spine.
